Harvey Rebalkin

Harvey is the 2021 Reflections of Nature Chair.

Born on a farm near Marcelin, Saskatchewan, Harvey was always interested in nature.

"Come See The Light" - NFS

Although he enjoyed the birds, butterflies, animals and other creatures of nature from childhood, he did not start painting until the age of 40. He began with traditional folk art painting inspired by Marion Resch and Lois Osman. Later he moved on to sketching with Michael Martin.

"Monarch Symphony"
$600

Upon meeting and taking classes from Pat Grove, a well acclaimed wildlife artist the doors to many other art forms were opened. He started with watercolours and pen & ink, ventured into scratchboard which he has excelled in, followed by acrylics, oils and pastels.

"Royal Table"

His subject matter generally contains a natural theme varying from wildlife to florals, landscapes to buildings. Much of his reference material comes from his keen interest in photography.

"Bachelor's Banquet"

Every year Harvey has entered his paintings as well as his photographic pieces into the Reflections of Nature Wildlife Art Competition, which is the premier Wildlife Art show in Western Canada, where he has taken numerous awards from the novice through to the open level.

"Autumn Pride"

He has also shown his work at the Saskatoon Prairieland Exhibition showcase of arts where first place ribbons have been won.

"Troubled Water"

His artwork has been shown at various galleries around Saskatoon.

"Pride of San Diago"

He also has a number of pieces in private collections throughout Canada as well as Germany.
